The bulk of session one is around freeing up and bringing awareness to the act of breathing in. This is a fitting first session as it also serves to teach a valuable tool for the rest of the work, and for life. Breath is essential to life, a person could live weeks without food, days without water, yet only minutes without precious breath. I fondly remember my first yogi, Al, saying lovingly to his students, it’s not a pose, it’s a breath. Indeed yoga and many martial arts found their truths around moving with ones breath. Some religions even believe the the body is merely a vessel for breath.

As the primary source of energy for the human body, breath plays a vital role in the healing of the human body. The way in which we breathe directly affect the way in which we live. It affects our connection to the source. Our source of life, well being, and inspiration. By freeing up the breath, we free up ourselves. With awareness of breath, we become more aware of life.

Have you ever caught yourself holding your breath? What was going on when you saw this happening? How did you feel about what was going on? Have you ever found that you take a deep breath after an intense moment? Bringing awareness to the breath can allow a person to make choices about their breath, and in effect their life.

As breath is the source of inspiration, awareness of the breath can be a powerful tool. It can aid us in making decisions in our life. Try taking a few deep breaths before you make that next impulse buy. It can also carry us through intense moments.

I imagine you’re reading this for a reason. My guess is that you have noticed a sensativity in your body. You may feel somewhere that is tense, or is hurting. This isn’t the first time it’s hurt there, is it. I believe that most people have a few places in their bodies that hurt more often than others. It is very common for people to hurt in these places because of the way they have aligned their bodies with gravity. With awareness of breath, we are often shown the freedom of choice behind these patterns. With breath, we can move through the intensity of change, letting go of old patterns that no longer serve us, as they may have when they were formed.

Within inspiration, freedom can be found. Within freedom, inspiration awaits.
