Sessions 9: And Your Head in the Clouds

In Sesstion 9 we will be working the upper half of the body. By now you may understand the importance we place in the Psoas and it's interplay in the structural integration of the body. So when we think of the upper half of the body, everything above the waist, we work down to the lesser trochanter of the femur, where the psoas attaches, by way of the illio-psoas tendon. In the same respect that we consider the top of the psoas to be the top of the leg, we consider the bottom of the psoas to be the bottom of the torso. Because of it's importance, we will usually at least touch it briefly during session 9.

Beyond this simple recomendation to touch in on the psoas again, the client and therapist will design session 9 around the individual needs and areas of concern that were found in previous sessions. The first time I recieved the 10 series, I requested of my therapist a complete LDH session. I had my therapist work fully ever muscle that attaches or crosses this important structural area. This means not only the psoas, but also the abdominal group, quadratus lumborum in the lower back, the diaphragm and costal arch (lower arch of ribs) and deep spinal muscles in this area. This was a great session for me because I had a weakness here from years of being a computer programmer.

This is only one example however. Many people want more neck work, or hips. Some have had shoulder injuries such as a torn or strained rotator cuff at some point and want more work in this area. Don't hesitate to ask for what you want, this is your time for your body and your needs.
